A furniture gas spring is easier to identify when the enquiry includes more than a photo or an approximate length.
For B2B sourcing, the most useful information is the model, key dimensions, force marking and application details that are already available on the existing product or drawing.
The checklist below explains what to provide when requesting a quotation or asking a supplier to identify a similar furniture gas spring.
1. Model or SKU
If you already know the product model, include it in the enquiry.
For example, Xiongfa’s current gas spring range uses model references such as:
A model number is usually the fastest way to identify an existing product when the same reference is already known.
If the original model is unknown, send clear photos of the complete gas spring and any printed label or marking.
2. Overall Length
Provide the gas spring length shown on the existing product, drawing or specification.
Xiongfa’s current product data includes a length field across the gas spring range.
Because different suppliers may define measurement points differently, do not assume that a length value automatically means compressed length or fully extended length unless that is explicitly stated.
If possible, show the measurement points in a photo or drawing.
3. Stroke
Stroke is one of the useful dimensions for identifying a gas spring.
Xiongfa’s current gas spring product data includes stroke information across the range.
When requesting a quotation, include the stroke value if it is known.
For example:
Model: 601
Stroke: 90 mm
A gas spring with a similar overall length but a different stroke should not automatically be treated as the same specification.
4. Force in Newtons
Provide the required force or the force marking on the existing gas spring.
Force is normally expressed in N (Newtons).
Xiongfa’s current gas spring range includes model-specific force information. Some models list force ranges rather than one fixed value.
If a force marking is visible on the old gas spring, photograph it and include it in the enquiry.
If the force is unknown, state that clearly instead of estimating it.
5. Rod Diameter
Include the rod diameter where available.
Xiongfa’s current gas spring product data includes a rod-diameter field.
For an existing gas spring, this dimension can help distinguish between products that may otherwise look similar in photos.
A simple enquiry can state:
Rod diameter: ___ mm
6. Tube Diameter
Also provide the outer tube diameter where known.
Xiongfa’s current product data includes a tube-diameter field across the gas spring range.
Rod diameter and tube diameter are useful identification details and should be considered together with length, stroke and force.
7. Hole Distance
Xiongfa’s current gas spring range also includes hole-distance information.
If the existing product or drawing includes this dimension, add it to the enquiry.
Do not use hole distance as a substitute for missing end-fitting or bracket specifications. It is one identification field among several.
8. Application
If the application is known, state where the gas spring will be used.
For example:
- cabinet door
- lift-up furniture panel
- flip-down door
- other furniture mechanism
Some Xiongfa gas spring models include explicit application information, while others do not.
For that reason, application should be provided by the buyer when it is relevant rather than inferred from appearance alone.
9. Photos of the Existing Gas Spring
For an existing product, send clear photos of:
- the complete gas spring
- printed model or force markings
- both ends
- the installed furniture application, if relevant
Photos help the supplier understand the product context, especially when some specification fields are missing.
However, a photo should not replace measurable data when dimensions and force are available.
10. Required Quantity
Include the approximate purchasing quantity.
For example:
Model 612
Force: ___ N
Length: ___ mm
Stroke: ___ mm
Required quantity: 1,000 pcs
If the final quantity is not confirmed yet, provide an estimated range.
This gives the supplier enough commercial context to prepare the quotation around the actual project.
Example of a Clear Gas Spring RFQ
A useful enquiry could look like this:
We are looking for a furniture gas spring similar to Model 601.
Length: 273 mm.
Stroke: 90 mm.
Rod diameter: 6 mm.
Tube diameter: 15 mm.
Required force: ___ N.
Quantity: approximately 1,000 pcs.
Product and installation photos are attached.
Please confirm the closest available model and quotation.
What If Some Specifications Are Missing?
You do not need every field before making an enquiry.
If only some information is available, start with:
model or photo → length → stroke → force → rod/tube diameter → hole distance → application → quantity
Missing specifications can then be confirmed during the quotation process.
The important point is not to guess unknown dimensions or force values.
Before Requesting a Quote
For furniture gas spring sourcing, provide as many of these details as possible:
model → length → stroke → force → rod diameter → tube diameter → hole distance → application → quantity → photos

Available models can also be reviewed in the Gas Springs category before submitting a Request a Quote.
